徐克，原名徐文光，1951年2月生于越南。十三岁开始拍摄八米厘电影。1966年移居香港，完成中学教育。1969年进入美国德萨斯州的南循道会大学，一年后停学环游美国，后来转到德州大学(奥斯汀)修读广播电视/电影课程，与朋友合拍了一部四十五分钟的有关美籍亚洲人的记录片《千钟万缝展新路》。1975年毕业后，他在纽约编辑一份唐人街报纸，并组织了一个社区剧社，又参与当地的华埠社区有线电视。
　　他于1977年回港，随即加入无线电视当编导，参与摄制《家变》、《小人物》、《大亨》等片集。转投住视后，拍了《金刀情侠》。进入影圈后拍《蝶变》、《地狱无门》、《第一类型危险》、《鬼马智多星》、《最佳拍檔女皇密令》。83年他拍出了大型科幻武侠片《新蜀山剑侠》，引进美国先进特技。84年创立电影工作室，导演《上海之夜》、《打工皇帝》、《刀马旦》和监制了吴宇森的《英雄本色》、程小东的《倩女幽魂》等片，开创英雄片和高特技鬼片的新潮流，蜚声海内外。97年往荷里活发展，先后拍成《反击王》及《KO雷霆一击》。回港后已完成影片《顺流逆流》、《老夫子》、及《蜀山正传》。([URL=http://www.cnmdb.com/name/3065/bio]详细资料[/URL])
